Deer Valley Composite Squadron Commander 1st Lt. Mike Ricker notified the squadron that he would leave command effective January 20, 2021. In a message to squadron members on January 27, Ricker wrote:
“It is my pleasure to announce the Arizona Wing of CAP has selected Capt. Nic Fuqua as the new commander of Deer Valley Composite Squadron 302. Capt. Fuqua has served in many roles within CAP starting with being a cadet in the Texas Wing.
“He served previously as Deputy Commander for Cadets. He currently is an Aerospace Education Officer, an active aircrew member, as well as the Deputy Commander.”
Fuqua holds senior ratings in the Aerospace Education and Professional Development specialty tracks. He is qualified as a mission scanner, observer, and airborne photographer.
“Capt Fuqua has my full and total support and I look forward to working with him in his new role as our new Squadron Commander,” Ricker concluded.
Arizona Wing Commander Col. Rob Pinckard fully endorsed Fuqua’s selection, writing, “You will no doubt find some challenges in this new role. It is my profound hope that you’ll actually find it to be one of the most rewarding things you’ve ever done. I have every confidence that Deer Valley Composite Squadron 302 will flourish under your command!”
